MrBeast Takes Cultivated Meat Into Pop Culture

MrBeast Takes Cultivated Meat Into Pop Culture visual media slide

In what looks like a stroke of PR genius, cultivated meat just had its MrBeast moment, and it didn’t arrive via policy, panels, or press releases, it landed through culture. YouTube heavyweight Jimmy Donaldson aka. MrBeast visits UPSIDE Foods and is walked through how cultivated chicken is actually made. No theatrics. No sci-fi panic. Just cells, bioreactors, and a process that looks more like brewing than “lab meat”.

The real signal comes when Jimmy tastes the chicken and pauses - briefly dropping the entertainer mask. “It tastes just like chicken". Which, of course, is the point. Cultivated meat isn’t an analogue, substitute, or imitation. It’s chicken grown without the animal, and that moment of genuine surprise does more for public understanding than a decade of white papers ever could. Mr Beast has 463 Million Youtube subscribers.

This is what the cultivated meat sector has been missing: a direct bridge into mainstream culture. The science has been working for years, regulatory hurdles are finally clearing, and valuations have reset after a bruising 2024. What was missing wasn’t tech, it was trust, familiarity, and narrative. MrBeast didn’t just explain cultivated meat. He normalised it.
