LILO, FLCK & Friends Hit Fine Food Australia Expo as Plant-Based Squad Arrives Hungry

LILO, FLCK and Friends Visual Media

They’re cool, clean, and coming in coconut-covered, brain-boosting, and ham-free. A handful of plant-based innovators are either exhibiting at or circling this year’s Fine Food Australia Expo in Sydney and they’re not just tagging along for the free samples.

NZ’s LILO Desserts brings guilt-free indulgence in the form of rescued-fruit cheesecake, while local players like FLCK are crashing the drinks scene with smart, nootropic sips that ditch the crash-and-burn.

The real twist? Most of these brands are growing outside traditional meat-alternative hype. Made With Plants is pushing deli-style bacon and faux-mozzarella into the Coles mainstream. Snack Proud and Whole Earth are tapping into functional snacking and health pantry formats, giving consumers alternatives for those in-between moments where soy sausages don’t quite cut it. There's no Beyond clone in sight, just practical, pretty packaging and product strategies whispering, "grocery disruptor" rather than shouting "food revolution."

If this is what the next wave of plant-based looks like, flexitarian-friendly, function-forward, and fun, then Sydney’s Fine Food floor may be a crystal ball. And judging by the TikTok-ability of LILO’s mini tubs and FLCK’s slick cans, these brands aren’t just selling food. They’re selling culture. Gen Z and Millennials, your new snack gods have arrived.
