Community Over Competition as Grater Goods Take Over Green Dinner Table

Grater Goods and Green Dinner Table

In a move that could become a blueprint for surviving New Zealand’s tightening plant-based market, Grater Goods has officially taken Green Dinner Table under its wing.

The two Christchurch-born pioneers have been running parallel tracks for years - Grater Goods with its artisan plant-based deli and products, Green Dinner Table with its chef-designed weekly meal boxes.

Now, with Flip Grater at the helm, they’re merging operational muscle without losing the distinct flavours, style, and loyal audiences each has built.

It’s a frank acknowledgement of the economic reality where small, values-led food businesses are under siege from rising costs, fickle consumer habits, and retail contraction.

Flip calls it “community over competition” leading to a pooling of creativity, logistics, and customer reach to make both brands stronger, more resilient, and more sustainable. If they pull it off, the partnership could become a rare Kiwi case study in how indie plant-based players avoid being eaten alive by the very market they helped create.
