Kinda Brilliant as Juicy Marbles & Revo Foods Bet Big on Collabs with New Plant-Based Salmon Filet

Something fishy and frankly fabulous, is happening in the plant-based protein world.

Just weeks after selling out its first alternative fish product in under an hour, Slovenian whole-cut disruptor Juicy Marbles has dropped its next act in the form of Kinda Salmon, a thick, unbreaded filet of fungi plant-based salmon goodness aiming to do for fish what its marbled steaks did for beef.

This isn’t just a product launch. It’s a proof of concept, for strategic collaboration, for narrative-led branding, and for the still-nascent dream of building a truly functional, fish-free fridge.

Back in July, Kinda Cod made waves as Juicy Marbles’ first entry into seafood, co-developed with Austrian foodtech darling Revo Foods. The result? 1,000 units vaporised in just over an hour. Consumers raved about its flaky texture and kitchen versatility. “To say I was amazed is an understatement. It was delicious!!! It was very codlike… bravo,” said one early fan on Instagram. Another called it “incredible,” adding that “the texture and flavor are perfect.” The most succinct? “Loved it! The flakiness is unreal!”

Buoyed by that tidal wave of interest, the duo is back with Kinda Salmon, a 110g unbreaded filet seasoned with pink pepper and lemon, promising the kind of clean culinary canvas chefs crave. Forget the breaded, pre-fried, sodium-heavy mock-fish that dominates shelves—this one’s for the pan-searers, the cedar-plankers, the salmon salad tossers.

“Kinda Salmon fits right into our brand ethos,” says Juicy Marbles co-founder Luka Sinček. “When it comes to plant-proteins, our goal is to give you the closest thing to a wholesome, raw ingredient as we can. The kind of clean, versatile canvas chefs and home cooks actually want to work with. Clearly, there’s demand for plant-based fish products that feel like real ingredients, rather than pre-packaged meals. And kinda Salmon does that with pinache. We’ve made one-pot fish bakes, high-protein salads, fish sandwiches… it kinda does it all.”

And the ingredient list backs that up. Each filet delivers 13g of protein, Omega-3s via microalgae oil, and is made from fermented fungi-based mycoprotein using a unique structuring process for a tender yet firm bite. It’s also a good source of dietary fibre and a as well as 40% of daily Vitamin B12 and Folate, and 30% of Vitamin B6.

But the real innovation here might not be in the flake or the fatty acid profile, but the model. Juicy Marbles & Friends, the newly minted line behind both kinda Cod and kinda Salmon, is not just a fun label. It’s a deliberate co-branding play tapping into the strengths of partner companies at the same time leveraging Juicy Marbles’ marketing muscle and DTC infrastructure.

For Revo Foods CEO Robin Simsa, the collaboration is as strategic as it is symbiotic. “We’ve had demand for our fish products in the US, but couldn’t fulfil it. This partnership allows us to focus on what we do best, innovation, while reaching a new market,” Robin Simsa says.

“Juicy Marbles has built an international brand. Teaming up fulfils both our companies’ missions. I believe this collaborative mindset is key to bringing the whole field forward. It’s easy to forget we’re still in the early days of this industry; it’s still relatively niche. So this type of collaboration between companies will be crucial as we continue working toward becoming a staple in everyday kitchens.”
