The CleanBean Thai Meat-Free Leap

Thailand isn’t just serving up curry and noodles anymore, it’s getting serious about plant-based meat.

Swees Plant Based Foods, the Thai maker of the country’s first vegan cheese, has rolled out a new line called CleanBean. Think Beev Steaklets and Chick*n Bites, designed to fry, grill, or simmer in a green curry without a label full of additives.

Using high-moisture extrusion tech, the range keeps it stripped back with soy protein, water, natural flavours - that’s it. Protein and fibre numbers stack up against real meat, but cholesterol doesn’t get a seat at the table. With retail shelves and online sales lined up, Thailand’s plant-based aisle just got a homegrown upgrade.

And Swees isn’t alone. Thailand’s plant-based scene already includes brands like Let’s Plant Meat (burgers, nuggets), More Meat (minced meat alternatives), and Mantra (Thai-inspired vegan meals). Together, these local players are building a distinctly Thai identity in the global alt-protein market; one that leans on flavour, affordability, and cultural fit rather than importing Western templates.
