In a refreshing highlight of COP29, on in Baku, Azerbaijan, Singapore hosted its annual ‘Singapore Evening,’ showcasing Vow’s Forged Parfait, a dish made from cultivated Japanese quail cells (and recently introduced to Hong Kong). This innovative cultivated quail product is tangible example of climate-forward solutions amidst ongoing allegations of greenwashing at the global climate conference.
The event, led by Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu (shown left), brought together international delegates, COP29 Pavilion partners, and government representatives.
Designed as a networking platform, the evening served as an opportunity for Singapore to strengthen international collaboration on climate action while spotlighting its leadership in sustainable innovation.

Vow, an Australian alternative protein company, has been at the forefront of cultivated meat technology. Its Forged Parfait marks the latest milestone following the company’s regulatory approval by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) earlier this year. Vow is only the second company to achieve this milestone, following GOOD Meat’s approval for cultivated chicken in 2020.

This year’s showcase continues Singapore’s tradition of featuring alternative proteins on the menu at COP events. At COP27 in Egypt, GOOD Meat’s cultivated chicken was the star, while COP28 in Dubai saw the debut of Solein, a protein derived from microbes.
The inclusion of Vow’s cultivated quail at COP29 demonstrates Singapore’s commitment to advancing sustainable food solutions, setting a high standard for climate action through innovation.
