'No Need To Kill For The Grill'-PETA US Top-10 Vegan Burgers for '23

From Southern superfoods to Midwestern mushrooms, the US plant-based burger pallet is covered. During this 'National Burger Month', PETA has announced its list of the best US Top-10 vegan burgers for '23. Here they are, in no particular order:

  • The Ménage à Trois at Slutty Vegan (Atlanta) is a choice of vegan patty (PETA recommends Beyond Meat) loaded with “bacon,” “shrimp,” “cheese,” caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun.

  • The Mushroom Swizz Burger at Modern Love Omaha (Omaha, Nebraska) is a house-made seitan bean burger with house-made cashew swizz, roasted garlic mayo, fresh arugula, caramelized onions, and grilled mushrooms.

  • The Beet Burger at Three Carrots (Indianapolis) is a homemade beet patty with garlic aioli,

  • The Love Life Burger at Love Life Café (Miami) is a superfood patty with house-made “cheddar,” guacamole, house-made pickles, and lemon garlic kale and cilantro aioli.

  • The Dirty Secret at Selby’s (St. Paul, Minnesota) is a gourmet upgrade of a fast-food classic, and as the big original jingle goes, it features two delectable non-beef patties, special vegan sauce, lettuce, cheeze, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun—with an option to add tasty seitan bacon or swap in a gluten-free bun.

  • The Flatiron at Meta Burger (Boulder, Denver, and Edgewater, Colorado) is a Meta patty topped with grilled Brussels sprouts and shallots, grilled mushrooms, Gouda-style “cheese,” and house flatiron steak sauce.

  • The Garlic Mushroom Burger at Mark of the Beastro (Salt Lake City) is a seasoned Beyond Beef patty topped with savory garlic, mushrooms, “cheese,” lettuce, tomato, and onions.

  • The WAP-er at Houstatlantavegan food truck (Houston) is a choice of two seasoned quarter-pound patties (PETA recommends Beyond Meat) on a toasted brioche bun with smoked

  • The Deluxe Vurger at Vurger Guyz food truck (Los Angeles) is a juicy, perfectly grilled Beyond Beef patty with VG’s custom seasoning, both raw and caramelized grilled onions, thinly sliced tomato, lettuce, pickles, and American “cheese,” topped with house-made Sunrise Sauce.

  • The Cowboy Burger at Bean Vegan Cuisine (Charlotte, North Carolina) is a hand-formed patty with house-made seitan bacon, Daiya cheddar, onion rings, pickles, ranch dressing, and BBQ sauce.

“Whether you love meaty, old-fashioned Southern barbecue burgers or health-conscious beet burgers, these restaurants serve up animal-friendly ways to enjoy National Hamburger Month,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk.
