UK’s Plant-Based Pulse Is Back -From Chickpea Tofu to Cauli Gnocchi

AI render of products listed in UK during September visual media

September in the UK wasn’t just another month of “vegan bits and bobs”, it was a full-on showcase of how plant-based food is growing up. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Morrisons all rolled out fresh meat-free, dairy-free and hybrid health SKUs shouting accessibility and everyday appeal. From BOSH!’s eight-strong range of chilled meals and pizzas to Kyle Parchment’s Kulcher frozen ready-meals, the plant-based aisle suddenly looks like it belongs in every British kitchen.

Underneath the colour and convenience sits a clear shift in tone: less “fake meat,” more “clever food.” THIS™ debuted chickpea tofu; Sunny & Luna went full vegetable-led with cauliflower and spinach gnocchi; and BOL Foods dropped immunity-boosting soups that read like wellness in a carton. Even dessert got a lift, The Coconut Collab’s pistachio pot and Little Moons’ vegan chocolate-fudge prove the category’s indulgence isn’t dead, it’s just dairy-free.

The trendline? Function meets flavour. Fibre, protein, immunity, and gut-friendly cues are creeping into the mainstream, backed by the biggest retailers. If 2024 was the wobble year for plant-based, September 2025 just proved the patient’s very much alive and rebranding itself as everyday food, not ideology.
