Vegan Wellington Lead The Waitrose Early Christmas Parade

Waitrose Christmas Visual media

Christmas has officially jumped the queue as Waitrose in the UK unwraps its festive range a full four months early, and it’s not the turkey grabbing the spotlight. Instead, the UK grocer is making noise with plant-based centrepieces looking and feeling like the real stars of the table.

The retailer’s No.1 Mushroom, Malbec & Port Wellington (stuffed with chestnut, portobello and pulled shiitake in a rich wine sauce) and their Cauliflower Cheese Galette Crown (hand-crimped by a Cornish bakery with 125 years of craft) are pitched as shareable showstoppers, not just “alternatives.” Paired with a Chilean Malbec, they’re designed to carry Christmas Day on their own.

This makes Waitrose the first plant-based sleigh off the rank for Christmas 2025 clearly signalling to rivals like M&S, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s that vegan isn’t niche anymore, it’s festive tradition. The message is clear - plant-based is no longer an option on the side, it’s the main event.
