Little Lato Dairy-Free Mango Lassi Gelato Goes Back-to-Back

Little Lato has done it again. For the second year running, the Auckland dairy-free gelato maker has scooped the Tetra Pak Dairy-Free Champion at the NZ Ice Cream & Gelato Awards, with its Mango Lassi Vegan Gelato.

As well it picked up the New Zealand Ice Cream Association Sorbet Champion with its Little 'Lato, Chocolate Orange Sorbet.

In a line-up including licorice, spiced biscuit and all manner of chocolate, it was a bright, plant-based creation that captured the judges’ attention.

What makes this win more than a novelty is the context - the global vegan ice cream market is now worth upwards of USD 700 million annually and climbing fast, while dairy-free as a whole is on track to more than double to USD 2.6 billion by 2030.

For a boutique Kiwi maker like Little Lato, back-to-back wins aren’t just medals for the cabinet—they’re a clear signal New Zealand has skin in the plant-based game, and that even in a tiny corner of the world, innovation can hold its own against multinationals.
